When David and I lived in New York City, we discovered Tate’s Bake Shop during a day trip to the Hamptons. Their chocolate chip cookies are crispy, sweet and salty. When we moved away from NYC, I was on a mission to find a recipe that came close to Tate’s, and this one is pretty spot on.
INGREDIENTS
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
2 sticks of butter
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup dark brown sugar
1 tsp water
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 large eggs
2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
RECIPE
1 Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease or line cookie sheets with parchment paper.
2 In a large bowl, stir together flour, baking soda and salt.
3 In another bowl, cream the butter & sugars, then add the water and vanilla.
4 Mix until just combined. Add eggs to the butter mixture and mix lightly.
5 Stir in the flour mixture. When flour is mixed in, fold in the chocolate chips.
6 Drop 2 tbsps of cookie dough 2 inches apart onto prepared cookie sheets.
7 Bake for 12-17 minutes or until the edges and centers are golden brown.
8 Remove from oven and allow to cool on wire racks.
