Snow flurries In Autumn

Last weekend David and I went our annual fall foliage road trip to see Colorado’s vibrant aspen trees. We drove over Kenosha Pass, through the mountain towns of Breckenridge and Frisco, and back home again. This year the trees began changing earlier than normal, so driving toward the mountains we were unsure if the leaves were even near their peak – but I don’t think they could’ve been any more electric.

As we closed in on Breckenridge, our fall day took a turn as the temperature quickly dropped and we started driving through a light snow storm! Only in Colorado will you set out to see fall foliage, and end up with snow-dusted evergreens mixed in. And to top it off, just outside of town we saw two moose that found the most picturesque spot for grazing. Before heading home, we grabbed brunch at the Log Cabin Cafe, and made a brief stop at the Frisco overlook to capture the unusual sight of yellow aspen trees below snow-capped mountains.
