Last Thanksgiving a large winter storm swept through our area leaving behind well over a foot of snow. In our five years of living in Colorado, this was only the second time we’ve seen accumulations this high. Needless to say Biscuits was not happy about it, so he stayed home with my sister while Dave and I went out exploring.
We drove up a large hill with a great view of the mountains. Driving up the steep, snowy road was a bit sketchy, and walking to the overlook was just as bad. The snow was almost up to my knees, so I was literally pulling my foot out with each step. At the top of the hill, everything was blanketed in white. No one was out on the road. The entire town was hunkered down, just waiting for the sun to come back out.
On a side note, while I was going through these photos, I noticed we drove right past a bald eagle perched on the telephone pole!
We also made a quick stop at a lake. The path was completely covered in snow, and the geese were complaining loudly about the weather – this is not what they signed up for when migrating to Colorado for winter!
