Our Week(s)

Dave and I celebrated our 5th year wedding anniversary. Since Biscuits was still recovering from pneumonia, we made mushroom ravioli (from scratch!) for dinner at home.

It has been a busy year so far, hence the lack of posts. I’ve been traveling all over Colorado for work, but after transitioning into a new job, things have settled down a bit. I’ve been able to knock out a few Iceland posts… yes, it’s been about 10 months since the trip… and yes, I’m still not done… but I am working on the last batch of photos which I am hoping to have up in the next week or two!

Monday was the long anticipated total solar eclipse. And while Colorado only saw about 94%, it was still an amazing and bizarre experience.

Dave and I exploring Rocky Mountain National Park after a HUGE snowstorm.

One of my favorite summertime sights.

Dave and I stumbled upon this national monument while taking a scenic drive through the mountains. We saw fossil deposits and petrified tree stumps up to 14ft wide!

These Starry Sky flowers are my favorite.

Our first hike of the year was in Roxborough State Park, known for its dramatic red sandstone formations (like this one shaped like George Washington’s face). Although we did have unfortunate timing… rattlesnakes were waking up from hibernation. We actually saw a baby snake right by the trail.

Dave found two cruiser bikes on craigslist, which we used pretty frequently this summer. We even got a basket for Biscuits to ride in.

I think I say this every summer, but Colorado sunsets never get old.

Dave’s mama taking in the mountain air at Summit Lake on Mt. Evans. (She wasn’t posing for the picture, I just happened to be behind her to capture this moment)

Dave has REALLY gotten into fishing this summer, so we all went up to RMNP so he and his dad could fish the Big Thompson.
