Every summer David and I drive through Rocky Mountain National Park to eat lunch in Grand Lake. This is where it all started. On our vacation three years ago, swinging on the front porch of the Grand Lake Lodge, we knew Colorado was where we needed to be. And it was only one year later that we found ourselves packing up our life in Atlanta, and heading west. We always take this time to reflect on what we’ve done and accomplished since then.
I am by no means a morning person. I’m more of the hit-snooze-on-my-alarm-until-I-can’t-take-it-anymore type. So this summer I made it my mission to become a morning person. It was off to a rough start, but both days this past weekend I was wide awake at 6:30am. I actually woke David up, a self-proclaimed morning person. On Sunday, we celebrated me not hitting snooze by going to Snooze, our favorite place for breakfast in Boulder.
We attended a friend’s BBQ in the Boulder foothills Sunday evening, and this was the stunning view from their back porch. David is now on the hunt for a neighboring cabin.
David and I absolutely love the Summer Olympics. Our favorite sports to watch are swimming, beach volleyball, and gymnastics. Needless to say, this was also the look on our faces as we watched Michael Phelps swim in his last competition at his last Olympic Games in Rio De Janeiro.
The Perseid Meteor Shower was predicted to peak over the weekend, so David and I got out our sleeping bags, laid on our back deck, and tried to stay awake for as long as we could to watch the show.
