It’s the Holiday Season?

Our quarantine Christmas. We made our house cozy and festive. We hung outdoor lights for the first time ever. We took nightly drives around our neighborhood, hot cocoa in hand, admiring the countless number of houses decked out in lights and inflatables, each with the same idea that this year needed some extra holiday cheer.

This was our first Christmas without Biscuits. There were moments that hit us hard, like not having him sneak under the tree and completely ravage the gifts. But at the beginning of December, as if he knew we needed it, the orchid that his wonderful vet gave us after his passing bloomed for the second time this year.

Our tv was set to one thing all month long – Hallmark’s 24-hour Christmas movie marathon. It quickly became our weekly activity to make fun of and try to predict what happened next. And by Christmas day, we had Hallmark’s formula for each movie down pat.

We hope everyone has a safe holiday! The clouds may not miraculously part the second 2021 hits, but take time to celebrate the end of a challenging year, and welcoming of a fresh start.
