Colorado Balloon Festival

I’m playing a little catch up on the blog, so the next few posts will probably be from things that happened last year. First up is the balloon festival from last spring!

Every year Colorado hosts a weekend-long balloon festival where dozens of hot air balloons launch each morning, and hold balloon glows in the evening. We were looking forward to it all week, especially since Dave’s parents were in town to join us. But unfortunately the weather on Saturday was not cooperating. An incoming storm made it too windy for the balloons to fly. A few balloons did inflate for a short period of time to help entertain the crowd and restless children.

They went ahead and canceled Sunday’s event as well, but the weather actually turned out so nice that the balloon crews decided to launch anyway! We only knew this because we happened to go on an early morning walk, and noticed a group of balloons in the air. We quickly jumped in the car and followed them. It led us to an empty field where we ended up seeing a balloon festival after all!
