Towards the end of last October, Dave and I realized we didn’t use our R-Pod all year; so we packed it up and drove to the mountains. Luck was definitely on our side because we ended up snagging one of the last open sites in Moraine Park! It was nice and private, with a trail to the top of the ridge that overlooked the meadow. We spent the day leisurely driving around, enjoying having the national park pretty much to ourselves. We hiked along Cub Lake Trail to get a closer look at a herd of elk, and watched the sunset on a bridge over the Big Thompson River. Back at the campground, we made dinner and sat by the fire. One of our favorite things about camping in Colorado is the night sky; the amount of stars that are visible is seriously astounding.
We were so happy to fit in this camping trip, because winter hit not long after and snow shut down the campground. And rather than taking photos this time around, we decided to make a video that you can watch below!
